A SITU PROJECT  FOR ONE PERSON AT THE TIME
2006
Espace - Black Box

The Black Box, a big and industrial black-grey box, was constructed on the first floor of the former clothing warehouse TROUSSEL in Charleville-Mezieres, on the frontier between Ardennes and Champagne.

The installation functions automatically and sucks the visitor into the box like in an elevator. The visitor gets lost in two rooms that describe the history of the building. The Black Box functions as a radiographic center that captures the memory of the building and transforms it into sound and/or image.

The Black Box consists of a dark room and a light room.
By means of an ingenious soundtrack, mirrors, a projection, and a glass floor that allows you to see the ground level, the two rooms give the illusion of more rooms than there actually are.
