THE REST OF THE WORLD (and Beyond)
THIS INSTALLATION WILL PREMIERE IN MARCH 2013

THE REST OF THE WORLD (and Beyond)

"In this installation, the audience will enter 'my house' and experience through the huge windows, a view of  ‘the rest of the world’ a vision of the unknown parts of the world around us, like the Universe, the inside of the earth and the dark zone of the sea, seen by the scientists, and children I worked with.
This project will be a theatrical installation for all ages to ‘philosophize about what could exist outside our daily view of the world’.

                                                                    Judith Nab

To visualise these worlds Judith NAB will use the input of scientists and children gathered in ateliers, organized throughout 2011 and 2012 in several cities .In the form of video-interviews, drawings , discussions and practical research they create material together, with the purpose to celebrate ‘ the out of the box thinking’
At the end of each atelier a exhibition in each city is organized.

The installation ‘My house, the rest of the world and beyond’  will premiere in march 2013. Partners are the Blickfelder festival in Zurich and Teatro a Corte in Torino.

The installation will have a duration of about 20 minutes and will play non-stop for about 15 people at the time.

“The aim of the installation is to invite the spectator to doubt about pretended certainties, and embrace the (im)probable and (im)possible.”                                                        Judith Nab

A picture book, for adults, children, and schools, gathering all the ideas and drawings of the project is envisioned for march 2013.

Prologue
MAMA, WHAT CAN I DO?

’About one year ago I was sitting at the lakeside in Zurich and I was wondering what kind of work I would do, since I was doubting about the sense
of  producing artistic projects.
At that moment a friend called me, she told me about her daughter who could not sleep that night.
She said : 'Mam, Look. now I am ten years old. First I have to finish primary school, than I can go to college, after that I can go to university, than I have to finish university completely and than I can become the prime president and only than I can save
the world, but then... it might be to late!’

She was desperate. When after some hours her tears dryed she decided: ’I could start already now!'
The next day she went to school and she told her class about her plan to start to save the world. She asked them to think with her and to write and draw down their ideas give it to her. Within a week she received 30 ideas….

When I heard this story I felt ridiculous about my heavy thoughts. I wrote her a letter of 4 pages which I did send by post:
’ Your mother told me about the big project you have started. I also want to start a new project, a bit smaller than yours. If I help you with your project, can you help me with mine?’

The next day I received a short email: 'Nice! When shall we start? I can be there at Tuesday after school, Wednesday afternoon or I can come for the whole weekend to stay at your place. Greatings Mira.'
This is how I started ‘The rest of the world (and beyond)’
