Twilight
A SOLO PERFORMANCE
2000
Twilight

A woman lies turning in her bed. In the night or in her dream are voices: "Pourquoi etes vous venue ici cette nuit?" She gets up. It’s pitch-dark. Suddenly she is lifted-up and for a fraction of time she is flying through the room along with a table and chair. While she astonished puts on het robe, her body starts to disappear, only her arms and legs remain floating in the air.

A cartoon. Foot long coloured and transparent shadows. A puppet, Voices made of thoughts, delusions, memories. An old song. The white noise of the television.
What is real and what is imaginary? The ‘reality’ is ever changing and different for everyone. In the night this becomes clear once again.

Rhythmically sampled texts from old French movies and sounds from everyday life are an important part of the music for this performance made by contemporary composer Jacob ter Veldhuis, who is a specialist in voice sampling.

Jacob ter Veldhuis’ work is being performed by many known musicians and ensembles all over the world (Eleonore Pameijer, the Aurelia quartet, the Houdini’s, etc.).

Twilight was performed approximately 200 times in The Netherlands (series on new theatre producers, Oerol, Images, etc) and over 100 times spread over France, Spain, Italy, Norway a.o.
