AN INSTALLATION OF 20 MINUTES FOR 4 VISITORS IN A REAL ABANDONED HOUSE. 2004
Just
as the other house projects the spectator, accompanied by three other
visitors, follows a set course through an abandoned house.
From the end of June until the end of August 2004 the second house
project played during the Summer of Antwerp. Situated in an abandoned
mansion on the Violetstraat 35, in a back district in Antwerpen: the
Seefhoek. And also this project was partially based on the family that
once lived there, which operated a carton factory behind the house for
centuries.
In two months time the performance played between 11:00 am and 23:30 pm with approximately 8000 visitors.

REVIEWS ‘The
old house in the Violetstraat 35 already starts to tell its exciting
and touching story to whom dares to take the stairs. Who doesn’t really
misses out.’ De Standaard, 02-07-2004
‘Antwerp,
in the centre of Streefhoek. The door opens, the darkness embraces me.
Specks of light and sound lure me up, and there the discovery of an
abandoned house starts. The atmosphere is astounding, sometimes even
scary with clattering dishes in the kitchen and the hastily left bed of
two lovers.’ Metro, 30-06-2004
‘It
seems as if the former residents have only just left; the soup is
standing damping on the table, the bathroom is filled with steam and
suddenly the fax is spitting out paper.’ Gazet van Antwerpen, 01-07-2004
‘‘This
house is a rhapsody for temporality and love from far-off days. It is a
magical and realistic world with much feeling for theatre and poetry.’ Zone 03, 13-07-2004
